We offer a great range of metal curtain poles designed especially for 3 sided bay windows. It can seem complicated to find and fit curtain poles suitable for your bay window, but we stock a wide variety of options. And, just like our other curtain poles, our 3-sided bay window poles come as a kit, with all the necessary corner joints, adjustable brackets and passing rings.
What length of pole do I need?
Before choosing a pole, the first thing to do is measure the individual lengths of each window in your bay. To help with this, we’ve created a handy guide on how to measure for bay window curtain poles.
Which 3 Sided Kit is best for my window?
As all bay windows are different, there are a few extra things to consider when choosing a three-sided bay window pole kit.
If your window has 90-degree angles, you need a 35mm Speedy bay kit or a Swish three-sided kit. These come with either double corner joints or snake corner joints, which allow the poles to be connected around a tight bend. If the angles of your window aren’t so tight, you can choose from any of our Speedy, Swish or Universal three-sided kits.
Should I fix to the wall or ceiling?
This is vitally important when choosing a 3-sided bay window pole. The ideal scenario is to use wall brackets, but you need at least 10cm of space above your window for these. You also need something solid to screw the wall brackets onto (not the window!). You might, for example, need to fix a wooden batten above your bay window, so you can fix wall brackets onto this.
If you don't have at least 10cm of space above your window, you’ll need to use ceiling brackets, which screw into the ceiling rather than the wall. When using ceiling brackets, make sure you screw into the ceiling joists or use suitable plasterboard fixings.
What if my bay window has more than 3 sides?
That’s no problem – head over to our range of 5-sided bay window curtain poles where we have a brilliant selection of poles for windows with more than three sides.
We also offer many other options to help you find the right pole for your bay window, including eyelet bay window poles. For more details, visit our bay window curtain poles page.
How do I fit my bay window pole?
Fitting a bay window pole can feel a little trickier than fitting a straight pole, because you need to fit three poles and connect them. We can offer plenty of advice though and have put together a simple guide on how to fit bay window curtain poles.
